Sony Ericsson W350 mobile phone

Sony Ericsson has just announced the W350 mobile phone. This upcoming Java-enabled mobile phone from Sony Ericsson has a design I haven’t seen for quite a while — flip-style mobile phones. This is the first from Sony Ericsson (if I don’t count the ones sporting the Ericsson brand).

The Sony Ericsson W350 flip-style mobile phone is very slim at 11mm and the flip design is reminiscent of the Ericsson T39 mobile phone. The W350 will be available for as 350i for Asia and Europe, 350a for the Americas and 350c for mainland China.

It will have a 176×220 pixel display capable of 262K colors. Multimedia Support includes AAC+, AAC, MP3, M4A, 3GP, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, WAV for sound; GIF, JPEG, BMP, PNG, WBMP, SWF, Adobe® Flash Liteâ„¢ 1.1, GIF for image and animation. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, Walkman player 2.0 withTrackID, Media Manager content transfer software, PlayNowâ„¢ and FM radio with RDS.

The W350 mobile phone will have Access NetFrontâ„¢ 3.3 as the web browser capable of WAP 2.0, XHTML and HTML. Messaging features include EMS, SMS, MMS, Push e-mail (POP3 and IMAP4). Other features are USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0

Storage-wise the Sony Ericsson W350 Java-enabled mobile phone will have a shared memory of 14MB and up to 4GB of external memory via the use of Memory Stick Micro (M2)

On the Java front, the W350 mobile phone will have an unlimited heap and the real limit will depend on available storage. The J2ME phone will have support for the following JSR’s:

  • CLDC 1.1 (JSR 139)
  • MIDP 2.0 (JSR 118)
  • Wireless Messaging 1.0 and 2.0 API’s (JSR 120/205)
  • Mobile Media API (JSR 135) (audio playback only)
  • Java Technology for the Wireless Industry (JSR 185)
  • PDA Optional Packages for J2ME Platform (JSR 75)
  • Web Services (JSR 172)
  • Mascot Capsule Micro3D Version 3 -Mobile 3D Graphics API for Java ME (JSR 184)
