Sony Ericsson has announced it’s upcoming Z555 java-enabled mobile phone with a unique and sleek design. It features gesture control that allows you to interact with your mobile phone without normally touching it.
For example, you can simply move your hand over the Sony Ericsson Z555 to mute an incoming call or snooze the alarm. Hmmm, the snoozing part is pretty interesting (I wonder how far away the mobile phone can be to be able to “interact” with it, should be pretty useful if you just don’t want to wake up in the morning just yet).
The Z555 mobile phone will be available in two versions. The Z555i which has EDGE/GSM/GPRS at 900/1800/1900MHz frequencies for the Asia and Europe market while the Z555a which has EDGE/GSM/GPRS at 850/1800/1900MHz frequencies will be for the Americas.
It sports a 176×220 pixel screen with up to 262K colors. Other features include Access NetFrontâ„¢ 3.3 with WAP 2.0 and XHTML/HTML support, EMS/SMS/MMS, Push e-mail, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0,RSS feed support to name a few.
Multimedia features include sound support for MP3, MP4. MIDI, AMR, image support for JPEG, GIF, SVG Tiny 1.1, Adobe® Flash Lite™ 1.1 and animation GIF. It has a 1.3 Megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, a music player, FM radio with RDS, PlayNow™, Music DJ™.
Memory storage is 12MB for shared and up to 1GB external using Memory Stick Micro (M2â„¢)
For Java support maximum JAR Size is unlimited but will depend on available storage. It has Java 2, Micro Edition with the following JSR supported:
- CLDC 1.1 (JSR 139)
- MIDP 2.0 (JSR 118)
- Wireless Messaging API (JSR 120/205)
- Mobile Media API (JSR 135) (audio playback only)
- Mobile 3D Graphics API (JSR 184)
